< Our Background
Wondergy was born out of thethings we do every day.
Drop stuff. Play with mirrors. Watch small things crawl. Drum on plastic buckets on the streets of New York. Gradually, something became obvious to us: people are curious. They stopped to ask how cool things worked. They wondered. They smiled. Thus in 2002, two science students from Columbia University,
Ken Fink (Physics and Music) and
Rebecca Machalow
(Biology and Computer Science) began to grow a business of feeding that
curiosity. The pair brought together backgrounds of science, education,
theatrics, art, and music to to create innovative and exciting educational
programs for parties, schools, and corporate events.
Since then, Wondergy has continued to grow. We've expanded our staff, and we've been
quite picky about it. We've saught charismatic communicators with
university science backgrounds to share their curosity about the world.
Even our coordinator has a math background.
The Wondergy team has undertaken all sorts of interesting projects. Ken Fink and Rebecca Machalow co-authored the School District of Philadelphia's new Physical Science curriculum. Wondergy sent Ken Fink and Jessica Andersen to present a 40-show tour across India sponsored by the Lotus National Schools. We've worked with television productions, museums, major corporations, and there's so much more to take apart!
